Webinar versus online meeting

The number of participants attending your meeting is one of the biggest factors affecting your decision of to use a webinar or an online meeting room. The following chart shows the similarities and differences between a Zoom webinar and online meeting room as there are some technical capability differences between the two:

Meeting Webinar
Advantages Allows for participant interaction like audience participation and dividing the attendees into smaller groups. All participants can share video, audio, and screen if the host allows.  Speakers can address larger audiences like a lecture hall where the audience doesn’t interact with each other very much. Hosts and panelists can share video, screen, and audio.
Capacity 2-500 2–10,000 participants
Audio Participants can mute/umute their mic

Host can mute participants’ mics including upon entry.

Participants join in listen-only mode unless the host unmutes one or more attendees’ mics. Participates can be assigned a panelist role to share audio and video.
